Junge Scores 4; Broncos Ship In the Goals to Beat Husson on Senior Day

ONEONTA, NY (March 27, 2022) -- It is always a good day to beat a conference opponent but it is even better to do it on Senior Day. The Broncos hosted the Husson Eagles this afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference match-up. Delhi used a big 2nd quarter to pull away from the Eagles; going on to win 24-12.

Having knocked off Maine Maritime on Friday evening, Delhi was looking to get their conference record to 4-0. It seemed like the Broncos were going to be in for another close game after the 1st period. After a scoreless first six minutes, the Broncos were able to get on the board with a man-up goal scored by Jack McClurg. Two more goals would be scored over the next minute by the Yellow and Green to take a 3-0 lead before Husson could get on the board with the next two goals. Greg Junge restored the multi-goal lead with 4 minutes to play. The teams would exchange the next four goals and Delhi would lead 6-4 after the first 15 minutes played.

Junge would get on the board again but Husson countered right back. With just under 11 minutes in the half, McClurg scored his 3rd man-up goal of the afternoon and the Broncos would go on to score the next seven goals and push their lead to double-digits: 15-5. The Eagles were able to grab a late goal to trail by nine at the break.

Junge's fourth goal began the third quarter scoring for the Broncos and got the double-digit lead back. The Broncos' Sean Dalton scored a man-down goal and Kyle Brogan added another for Delhi. A 7th minute Husson goal was all they were able to get past Delhi for the quarter.

The final frame proved much like the 2nd; a lot of scoring would occur. The teams combined for eleven more goals, with Jackson Murphy scoring twice for Delhi. At the final whistle, the SUNY Delhi Broncos were able to ship 24 goals past the Husson Eagles.

Murphy (2), King White (2), Kyle Brogan (2), Brett Fischer (2), Benjamin Moscatiello (3), Nico Rivera (3), McClurg (3), and Junge (4) all enjoyed multi-goal games. Brandon McGrath got two assists and brought his season's total to 8. Moscatiello and Junge have 14 and 12 goals scored on the season, respectively.

Samuel Steng started in net and made two, first-half saves while James Sullivan managed 4 saves in the second half.

Nick Dower carried over his dominance on the face-off and won 11 ground balls, leading both teams.

Delhi peppered the Husson defense with 69 shots and were able to force 22 Eagle turnovers.

A special mention to seniors Al ShuaibNolan DanielewskiPhil Riportella, and Nick Dower who were recognized at halftime for their service to the men's lacrosse program.

The Broncos will look to get over the .500 mark when they travel to Manhattanville on March 30 for a 7PM start. The Broncos will sport a 4-0 conference record when they return to NAC action on April 1 against MCLA.
