Lyndonville, VT - The SUNY Delhi men's tennis team returned to action this weekend for consecutive conference contests, taking on Vermont State Johnson and Lyndon. The Broncos enter play looking for their first win in the conference and of the season.
In game one, for the first time this season, Delhi earned the clean sweep in the doubles portion of the contest. Ben Anderson and Nicholas Vanhouten would earn first with an 8-2 victory, followed by Gavin Bonczkowski and Devin Guerrieri's 8-5 victory. Lastly, the duo of Joseph Maccarrone and Nolan Kleinsasser would collect the commanding 8-0 result. The Broncos would ride that momentum into the singles portion of the contest, winning four of the six singles matches that followed. Anderson (6-2, 6-1) and Guerrieri (6-1, 6-4) would kick things off, giving Delhi a 5-0 match lead. Vanhouten (6-2, 6-0) and Kleinsasser (6-0, 6-3) would put the finishing touches on helping record the squad's first victory of the season.
In game two, Delhi would run it back with their same three duo pairs and earn the same results. The Broncos would be on the path to their second consecutive win as they entered the singles portion of the contest. Similarly to game one, Guerrieri and Kleinsasser would do their part, joined by Bonczkowski, recording the singles point in a three-set thriller. Delhi went on to secure the 6-3 win and a conference weekend sweep.
The Broncos improve to 2-3 on the season, 2-1 in conference play, and will take on Lesley at home on Saturday, April 12th, for some more conference play.
