DELHI, N.Y. (January 12, 2021) – While our Fall 2020 semester was anything but ordinary, our student-athletes have shown outstanding character, resilience, and leadership during their practice seasons. SUNY Delhi Athletics is proud to celebrate our Broncos of the Week each Tuesday by recognizing our talented and committed students, who despite the absence of competition demonstrated superb qualities on behalf of their team, the college, and their program of study.

This edition of Broncos of the Week offers somewhat of a double feature. Juniors and twin brothers Jeremiah and Jonathon Brathwaite have been selected from the swimming and diving team. To match that on the women's side, we have two-sport athlete Shelby Nolan, who is in her senior season as a starter on both the volleyball and softball teams.

Jonathon & Jeremiah Brathwaite (Arverne-Queens, NY / Christ Church Foundation Barbados), Men's Swimming & Diving

From Head Coach Mike Burud:

"Both of these guys worked exceptionally hard in the fall semester to improve their strokes and getting back into the swing of things after the summer break. Branching out and working on some of their weaker strokes as well as refining some stroke more familiar to them. They're really developing some leadership qualities that continue to shine through."

Jeremiah and Jonathon Brathwaite also compete on the outdoor track & field team.

Shelby Nolan (Ansonia, CT / Notre Dame Catholic), Volleyball & Softball

From Head Coach Beau Bracchy:

"Shelby entered her senior year looking to compete for the final time in two sports:  volleyball and softball. Unfortunately, the volleyball season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To add injury to insult, Shelby also contracted COVID-19 and had to quarantine for two weeks before she could even take part in our practice season. Shelby also had to resocialize back to sport differently than the rest of the team due to the fact that she had the virus. Long story short, she was able to work through all the phases and had a great Fall 2020 practice season! She also had multiple days with two practices, as she also worked with the softball team. There were a number of nights where she went straight from softball to volleyball and never missed a beat! She's a hard worker and team player who I hope to see playing both sports during the Spring 2021 semester!"

From Head Coach Meagan Stone:

"As a senior Shelby showed true leadership skills during these unprecedented times.  Shelby being a two-sport athlete sometimes was not allowed to participate in both volleyball and softball on the same day. Because of this even if she wasn't allowed to practice with us, Shelby still showed up and supported and encouraged her teammates."
