Women Finish 2021 with Grit Versus Bryant & Stratton Syracuse

DELHI, N.Y. (December 17, 2021) – The SUNY Delhi women's basketball team closed out a character-making 2021 stretch of their season Friday night, playing host to Bryant & Stratton Syracuse. The Broncos were unnerved despite the Bobcats scoring the first 22 points, turning in a solid second half that saw them outscore Bryant & Stratton 18-5 in the fourth quarter in a 64-46 Bobcats win.

Angelica Lazo led the Broncos with 16 points as the game's second-highest scorer, while making her lone 3-point attempt. She was also responsible for five rebounds and four steals. Myles Matthias was next on Delhi's scoring line with nine points and three steals. Justine Lubbers charted eight points with seven rebounds. Marissa Kupris recorded seven points and seven rebounds in a noteworthy performance, while Madilyne Kupris notched six markers with a team-best eight rebounds. Tiesha Mayfield pulled in six rebounds off the bench.

The Broncos finished 27.4 percent shooting (17-of-62), making 11-of-24. They had 40 rebounds, including ten offensive boards. The Bobcats shot 33.8 percent (27-of-80), made 7-of-11 free throws, and garnered 65 points, including 22 offensive.

Head coach Aiden McRoberts' team takes nearly a three-week break from competition, returning in the new year with a home matchup against Wells Jan. 6. They then return to their NAC slate hosting Maine Maritime Jan. 8 and Thomas Jan. 9.
