Women's Basketball Hosts SUNY Cobleskill to Open NAC West Season

DELHI, N.Y. (December 4, 2021) – The SUNY Delhi women's basketball team opened their NAC West season hosting SUNY Cobleskill Saturday afternoon, with the guest Fighting Tigers opening with 38 first-quarter points to start the fray en route to a 96-44 victory.

Angelica Lazo led the Broncos with 12 points and added three assists with two steals. Madilyne Kupris was next on the scoring chart for Delhi with eight points and a team-high eight rebounds, while Justine Lubbers collected seven points. Jahddah Lennon and Marissa Kupris each had six points, with Lennon dishing out five assists and Marissa Kupris gathering five boards.

SUNY Cobleskill had six players finish in double digits, led by Annie Canales' 18 points. SUNY Delhi shot 37.3 percent (19-of-51) and made 2-of-8 threes, while the Fighting Tigers pounced on a year-best 57.6 field goal percentage (38-of-66) and connected on 10-of-17 triples. Cobleskill led in rebounds, 44-25, and 37-10 in points off turnovers. They also were ahead 42-24 in points in the paint and had 17 offensive rebounds that led to a 18-6 advantage in second-chance points.

Head coach Aiden McRoberts' team has a non-conference matchup at Marywood Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. before continuing their NAC West home stretch next weekend. They'll play Northern Vermont Johnson Friday at 8:00 p.m., followed by SUNY Canton Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
