Madilyne Kupris' Game-Leading Scoring, Rebounding Highlights Women's Afternoon at Houghton

HOUGHTON, N.Y. (November 13, 2021) – The SUNY Delhi women's basketball team's first road trip of the 2021-22 season sent them out west Saturday for an afternoon meeting at Houghton College. The Broncos posed a serious threat to the Highlanders in the beginning, leading 11-9 at the end of the first quarter and 15-11 a minute and a half into the second quarter before Houghton staged a 23-point second quarter to take control and eventually post a 77-41 decision.

Madilyne Kupris had a breakout game, leading both teams with 14 points and nine rebounds, including making 4-of-6 free throws. Jennifer Roche and Justine Lubbers also logged double digits in scoring, with Roche garnering 12 points and seven rebounds and Lubbers ten points with seven boards and three assists.

SUNY Delhi's rebounding greatly improved from its first two outings, finishing tied with Houghton 51-51. The Highlanders, however, had 28 offensive boards for a 21-4 lead in second-chance points. The green and gold also committed 36 turnovers that Houghton produced into a 34-8 margin in points off turnovers. Delhi finished 27.6 percent shooting (16-of-58) and 9-of-18 from the line compared to their hosts' 34.1 percent (29-of-85) and 9-of-15, respectively.

Head Coach Aiden McRoberts and the Broncos have their next test again on the road this Tuesday at SUNY Oswego at 5:30 p.m., then back home to face Marywood Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
