Matthias Drops Game-High 17 Points Saturday Against SUNY Canton

DELHI, N.Y. (December 11, 2021) – SUNY Delhi women's basketball's Myles Matthias posted a game-best 17 points to account for nearly half the Broncos' scoring Saturday afternoon, as their guests SUNY Canton posted a 73-40 victory in NAC West action.

After a less than stellar opening half down 36-17, Delhi posted an impressive third quarter, outscoring the Roos 20-19, with Angelica Lazo scoring seven of her eight points in the period. The green and gold finished 13-of-17 from the free throw line to outgain the Roos, who made 8-of-17 at the line. All told, Delhi shot 23.2 percent (13-of-56) to Canton's 39.5 percent (30-of-76), and forced the Roos into 30 turnovers for 16 points off turnovers. Canton responded with 29 points off 32 Broncos turnovers, and used their nine-person reserve to post a 35-11 lead in bench points.

Jahddan Lennon grabbed a team-best nine rebounds to go with three points, five assists, and five steals. Madilyne Kupris gathered eight rebounds with three points. Lazo made 6-of-8 from the charity stripe for all but two of her points Satruday. Matthias made 8-of-19 from the floor and 1-of-1 on her lone free throw trip.

The Broncos have one more test before winter break with a non-conference home matchup against Bryant & Stratton Syracuse Friday, Dec. 17 at 5:00 p.m.
