WATERVILLE, Me. (April 8, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi men's tennis team recently splitting a four-match week, including going a perfect 2-for-2 in NAC play, generated their third NAC weekly award recipient. Sophomore and first-year player Jake Robinson (Oneonta, NY / Oneonta) was named the NAC's Rookie of the Week after combining for a 3-2 record in singles and doubles, with all three of wins coming against conference competition.
The Broncos hosted the Northern Vermont schools over the weekend, winning both matches by 8-1 scores. Against NVU Johnson Saturday, Robinson swept his singles and doubles matches, beating Kenneth Chandler at five singles, 6-1 and 6-2, and teaming with doubles mate Bailey Lane to down Chandler and Donnell Shaw at three doubles, 8-5. Robinson carried over his doubles success on Sunday against NVU Lyndon, moving up to the two slot with partner Christopher Balogh to take an 8-4 victory over Mukhtar Abdullahi and Kyle Leighton.
Robinson and the Broncos will take the spring break to recharge after a grueling week, as they will finish out the regular season with back-to-back matches. Delhi will host Utica on Wednesday, April 17 at 4:00 p.m., then travel to MCLA for its last NAC contest on Thursday, April 18 at 3:00 p.m.
