Lundstrom's Broncos Debut Awarded with NAC Rookie of the Week

DELHI, N.Y. (March 19, 2019) – Following the first weekend of play for the SUNY Delhi men's tennis team, freshman Laif Lundstorm (Glenville, NY / Scotia-Glenville) started off his collegiate career earning the NAC's Rookie of the Week award. Lundstrom was the Broncos' number-one singles and doubles player in both the team's opening contests against Houghton Saturday and College of St. Elizabeth Sunday, sweeping his matches in the latter to help Delhi to a 7-2 win over the Eagles.

Against CSE, Lundstrom and doubles partner Marcos Andrino overcame a 4-1 deficit versus Lesly Cruz-Munoz and Camrin Cronheim, winning the next seven sets for an 8-4 victory. The freshman carried his momentum over to his one singles match, where he again faced Cruz-Munoz, winning with matching 6-3 scores. His singles triumph clinched the team victory for the Broncos.

Lundstrom and the Broncos are back in action this Sunday, hosting Elmira at 1:00 p.m. Delhi will then open its NAC slate the following weekend, traveling to play Thomas Saturday, Mar. 30 at 10:00 a.m. They then will stop at Sage on Sunday, Mar. 31 to play the Gators at 1:00 p.m.
