Alhasane Sako Named USCAA All-American Honorable Mention

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (November 10, 2017) – At the league's national honors banquet Thursday evening, the United State Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) announced its Men's Soccer All-America Team. Sophomore forward Alhasane Sako (Brooklyn, NY / Academy for Social Action) was selected as an honorable mention.

Sako's recognition Thursday was the latest in a remarkable debut season. Joining the Broncos this year as a sophomore walk-on, the Brooklyn, NY native ended as SUNY Delhi's top scorer, earning several all-conference honors along the way. His performance also helped SUNY Delhi to a 9-8 record, winning five of their last seven matches and reaching the NIAC Championship.

Despite missing three contests due to injury, Sako became the team's breakout player and scoring leader with 15 points on six goals and three assists. Sako had just two goals all season before tallying a hat trick in Delhi's 8-2 in over Vermont Tech on Oct. 11 that made him the team's season scoring leader. Delhi won every match Sako scored or assisted in, including late-season victories over Fisher, where he had one goal and one assist, Berkeley NY and Fisher again in the NIAC Semifinals. The sophomore was recently named to the All-ACAA First Team, as well as being honored to the All-NIAC First Team and the NIAC All-Tournament Team at last weekend's conference championship.
