WATERBURY, Vt. (October 14, 2018) – The first fall NCAA Division III season for SUNY Delhi men's golf was capped gloriously Sunday at the team's first-ever North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championships. Sophomore Daniel Christy (Canton, NY / Canton Central) was crowned the league's individual champion after shooting a 73 one-over-par second day score to conclude with a 148 total, two strokes ahead of the pack. The Broncos placed second as a team with a 622 score (318, 304), improving by 14 strokes on Sunday from their first-day total. The team finished three strokes behind champion Husson.

The competition took place at the par-72, 6,801-yard Country Club of Vermont. The Broncos, after placing second at last week's USCAA National Championships, were selected sixth in the NAC pre-championship poll entering the conference tournament. Head coach Dave Arehart's team responded by sitting in third place after day one Saturday, 11 strokes behind first-place Husson and seven behind number-two Salem State. Christy finished day one in fifth place with a 75 score, three strokes behind Husson's Gavin Dugas.

Aaron Oliver (Trumansburg, NY / Trumansburg) and Russell Herbert (Freehold, NJ / Freehold) each turned in second-team All-NAC performances. Oliver was Delhi's second-top finisher, improving by eight strokes Sunday with a 74 to finish seventh with a 156 total. Russell Herbert improved by five strokes with a 78 to take tenth with a 161 score. Alex Fisher and Brandon Palmer tied for 13th with 164 totals. Fisher improved by six strokes with a Sunday score of 79, while Palmer carded an 86 after shooting a 78 on day one.

Christy birdied eight times over the two-day tournament, including birdying holes three and 15 back-to-back days. After no birdies Saturday, Oliver helped lower his score on Sunday with four birdies.
