DELHI, N.Y. (September 3, 2018) – SUNY Delhi men's golf began their season this weekend welcoming The Apprentice School for a two-day dual match. The Broncos trailed the Builders by one stroke after day one on Saturday, but improved their team score by two strokes Sunday as they claimed a 13-stroke 598-611 victory. The competition took place at the par-71, 6459-yard College Golf Course at Delhi.

Five Broncos claimed the top six spots on the leaderboard, led by Jonathan Smolen, who placed second after posting back-to-back 73 scores for a four-over-par. Brandon Palmer finished third with matfching 74 scores for six-over-par, while Alex Fisher was fourth with 73 and 76 scores for seven-over-par. Newcomer Zach Barrett took fifth with 76 and 74 scores for eight-over-par, as Russell Herbert was tied for sixth when his 76 and 75 scores put him at nine-over-par.

Head coach Dave Arehart's team heads to Virginia this weekend for their first tournament of the season. The Broncos are set to compete at the two-day Shenandoah Invitational, beginning Sunday at 12 noon.
