DELHI, N.Y. (May 7, 2021) - Seniors Ian Luhmann and Jaylynn Sheppard were recognized Friday evening following SUNY Delhi's final regular season meet hosting SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY ESF. The day marked many victories, new PR's, and especially new All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) championship entries for the Broncos.

The biggest performance for the men's team came from freshman John Amenta, who won the 5000 meters with at time of 15:20.23 to earn a spot at the regional championship meet to be held at St. John Fisher on May 19th and 20th. Freshman Naquille Harris continued his winning ways, taking the 100 (10.92) and 200 (22.42) meter wins. Also winning two events was freshman Quinton Robinson, who won the discus (34.94) and the javelin (35.28). Freshman Josh Jeffes placed first in the 800 meters with an AARTFC-qualifying time of 1:56.90, while fellow newcomer Morgan Condon won the 400 meters at 58.08.

On the women's side, the most impressive race may have been the 5000 meters where Delhi swept the top three spots with great performances. Sophomore Sophie Stewart ran to victory with a mark of 19:53.23 and was followed by freshman Marissa Lombardi (20:34.98) and sophomore Shyanne Lawton (21:26.85). Stewart's time was a new personal best, Lombardi's was 40 seconds faster than her time just a week earlier, and Lawton dropped 53 seconds from her run two weeks ago. Sheppard stayed undefeated on the season, winning the 100 (13.12) and 200 (27.73). More wins came from junior Katerina Salcedo in the 400 (1:01.33), sophomore Mary Lyons in the 1500 (5:40.31), sophomore Katelyn Ingraham in the long jump (4.06m) and triple jump (9.13m), and freshman Kitty Messina in the discus (30.89m)

Looking ahead to the All-Atlantic Regional Championships, the Broncos will have Naquille Harris in the 100 and 200 meters, Josh Jeffes in the 400 meters, and John Amenta in the 5000 meters, while the women will be represented by Sophie Stewart in the steeplechase.
