ALBANY, N.Y. (May 3, 2021) - The SUNY Delhi track and field teams went on the road for the first time this season to compete in a tri-meet at Albany Pharmacy Sunday against the host school and Russell Sage. Leading the way for the men were some impressive freshman, while the women were led by veterans.

The biggest performance of the day came from freshman sprinter Naquille Harris, who won the 100 and 200 meter races in blazing times of 10.82 and 21.99 seconds, respectively. Both of those performances easily qualified him for the AARTFC Championships to be held at St. John Fisher College May 19 and 20. Those times also represent the number-two and number-four performances in program history and significant lifetime bests for Harris.

Also winning for the men were freshman Josh Jeffes in the 800 meters (1:57.62), freshman John Amenta in the 1500 meters with a new nine-second personal best (4:06.31), and freshman Morgan Condon in the 400 meter hurdles (58.79).

On the women's side, senior Jaylynn Sheppard continued her winning ways, taking both the 100 and 200 meter races.  Her times of 13.02 in the 100 and 27.65 in the 200 represented a lifetime best and a season best, respectively. Junior Katerina Salcedo won the 400 meters in her first attempt at the distance this season with a time of 1:00.87, just missing the AARTFC qualifying mark. Sophomore Sophie Stewart captured the 1500 meters (5:17.36) to record another win on her impressive breakout season. Freshman Marissa Lombardi won the 5000 meters with a big season best time of 21:14.10.

The Broncos relay teams also won the women's 4x100 (Sabrina Richards, Jackie Graham, Jaylynn Sheppard, Kadie-Ann Whyte - 52.95) and 4x400 relays (Katerina Salcedo, Jackie Graham, Sabrina Richards, Sophie Stewart - 4:32.61) as well as the men's 4x400 (John Amenta, Anthony Cuchel, Morgan Condon, Josh Jeffes - 3:57.45).

This coming week, the Broncos will have a small crew on the road on Friday at the University of Albany and the rest of the team capping their regular season at home for Saturday's Bronco Weekend Classic.
