BRONCOS OF THE WEEK (5/4): Jaylynn Sheppard, Men's Golf

DELHI, N.Y. (May 4, 2021) - SUNY Delhi Athletics is proud to be back in the competitive swing of things this spring, and even prouder to celebrate our new batch of Broncos of the Week! This week's recognition goes out to track & field's Jaylynn Sheppard and the men's golf team!

SUNY Delhi Men's Golf compiled three victories in one week, including the NAC Championship for their second straight league title. The Broncos took on the Elmira College Spring Invitational last Tuesday, winning the four-team event with a 309 score for a 28-stroke margin of victory. Additionally, Delhi's "B Team" scored a 339, good for the third-lowest finish among all teams at the Mark Twain Golf Course. Daniel Christy tied for first individually with a 75. The Broncos carried on by defending their NAC title on Friday, defeating NAC East-champion Husson 318-335 on a windy afternoon at The Orchards in South Hadley, Mass. Jarrett McWilliams and Jason Cyr tied for first with 78 scores, earning Co-Medalist honors. Finally, the Delhi men secured a victory Monday over Utica by a 309-326 score at Yahnundasis in New Hartford, N.Y., with Christy again topping the field with a 73 score.

Jaylynn Sheppard (Queens, NY / HS for CTEA) continued to amaze on the track at Sunday's Albany Pharmacy Tri-Meet, winning the 100 and 200 meters. She posted a lifetime best in the 100 with a mark of 13.02 and a season best in the 200 at 27.65. Her finish in the 100 meters put her less than .4 seconds within the AARTFC qualifying mark. Jaylynn went on to run the third leg on the winning 4x100 team with a time of 52.95 alongside teammates Sabrina Richards, Jackie Graham, and Kadie-Ann Whyte. Jaylynn, a senior majoring in Mechatronics, is also a member of the softball team, successfully balancing both sports all four years. This includes indoor and outdoor track & field.
