Men's Lacrosse season ends at first ever NAC championship

Men's Lacrosse headed up to play Maine Maritime in their first-ever North Atlantic Conference championship Sunday afternoon. The Bronco's season ends with an 18-9 loss, but they look back on a positive season where they won their first NAC conference playoff game.

How it Happened:

After Maritime would start the game off with a goal, Jagger Beachak got the Broncos on the board with a solo effort less than 20 seconds later. Senior Sean Dalton would then even the score again after he forced a turnover and turned it into points with 6:45 remaining in the first.

Delhi would take their only lead, pulling ahead 3-2 after an excellent play by Benjamin Moscatiello freed up Beachak for his second goal. Maine then scored three straight and went into the second quarter up 5-2.

Senior Kyle Brogan got the green and gold going in the second scoring a great solo goal that bounced off the post. After another Maine goal, Moscatiello scored his first goal of the day this time assisted by Beachak. The rest of the half saw only one more goal as Maritime led 7-5 at the half. The Broncos outshot Maine 24-14 and picked up 26 ground balls to their 12.

Maine would use a scoring run in the third to break out to an 11-5 lead before Brogan would stop the bleeding with his second goal with 11:55 remaining in the fourth. Jack McClurg, Moscatiello and Beachak would add three more goals for the green and gold, but Maine would pull away and win 18-9. Beachak and Moscatiello would finish with a hat trick each as they led the offense. Samuel Steng saved 12 shots in goal Sean Dalton led the team with five caused turnovers.

Seniors Zachary Seebach, Sean Dalton, and sophomore Samuel Steng would land North Atlantic Conference All-Tournament team selections after their performances throughout the tournament.

The Broncos finish their 2023 season with an (8-9) overall record after winning their first NAC playoff game and advancing to their first-ever NAC Championship.
