Second half stampede lifts Men's Lacrosse over MCLA

Delhi, NY - Men's lacrosse hosted North Atlantic Conference opponents MCLA mid-day Saturday and defeated them 10-4 after a second half surge. The Delhi success started with the face off as freshman Anthony Ferrato won 16 of the 18 battles and continued through all facets of the game.

The Broncos (5-7,4-1) remain third in the NAC standings with four conference games left on the season.

How it Happened:

After a sluggish start for Delhi, they were led by the Trailblazers 4-2 at the half. Nico Rivera and Logan Bauer both scored as the MCLA goalkeeper had 12 saves. They would use the break at halftime to regroup and come out a different team, scoring eight straight while not giving up a single goal in the second half.

The green and gold led in most statistical categories with a strong performance. They outshot MCLA 60 to 8 as the Broncos spent the majority of their time on the attack. The midfield and defense were huge parts of the success, forcing 18 turnovers and grabbing 48 ground balls to the Trailblazers seven caused turnovers and 18 ground balls.

Senior Brandon McGrath led the way for Delhi with three stellar goals, one assist and two ground balls. The veterans on the team were all making plays as seniors Nico Rivera and Jack McClurg added two goals each. McClurg was a vocal point of the offense, dishing out two assists and picking up eight ground balls.

The defense continues to improve throughout the season, silencing the Trailblazers after the half, not allowing a shot on goal. They only let up a total of six shots on goal throughout making it easy on sophomore Samuel Steng in the goal.

What's Next:

After a tough overtime loss earlier in the week, the Broncos bounced back and gained momentum with four conference games left in the regular season. They will host another NAC game in Delhi on Friday, April 14th at 7:00 PM against Northern Vermont-Lyndon.
