In his freshman year Walter established himself as one the of programs biggest success stories. His improvements have been outstanding in every event he runs. He had a great freshman year, but his real eye opening performances all came in the same weekend. In the National Championship Meet last year, Walter led the team to the title earning four All-American honors. He won the individual titles in the 110HH (15.25), the 400IH (53.56) and anchored the 4x400 and 4x800 relays with FAT splits of 47.75 and 1:53.72.
The 4x400 relay team anchored by Briggs established a new SUNY Delhi school record and a new NJCAA National Championship Meet Record. Briggs opened in second indoor season by taking down the school record in the 300 meter run.
