The SUNY Delhi Track and Field teams traveled to Cornell University for the Denault Invitational. The team had a great showing.

Freshman Doug Williams got things started well for the team with a great day in the long jump.  After posting a jump of 6.77 meters in the preliminary jumps, he broke the school record twice during the finals.  His final jump of 6.87 meters (22' 6.5") bettered the previous record of 6.79 meters set last year by Keimon Barrow.  His mark was good enough for a third place finish.

Not to be outdone, Barrow had a solid day himself.  After placing second in the high jump, he went on to win the triple jump with a season best mark of 15.18 meters (49' 9.75").  For his performance, he was awarded the Field Athlete of The Meet.

Sophomore Walter Briggs placed third in the 400 meters with a time 49.69 seconds, just nine tenths off the school record.  Also placing third in their event were Antonio Gomes in the 200 meters (23.10), Brian McLeod in the high jump (1.99m/6' 6.25"), and Scott Downing in the 1000 meters (2:35.99).

Leading the way for the women was freshman Kelcey Watson who placed sixth in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.15 meters (10' 4").  Unfortunately, she was forced to withdraw from the competition at that point with an injury.

Some of the members of the team will travel to Staten Island next weekend for a meet at the Ocean Breeze Complex.
