Swimming & Diving Garners Final AMCC Year-End Awards

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. (March 11, 2020) – The SUNY Delhi swimming and diving teams completed a great season a few weeks ago at the AMCC/Empire 8 Championships at the Webster Aquatics Center in Webster, NY. The honors continued to pour in, as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) announced its end-of-season all-conference and all-academic recipients.

Three Broncos were recognized for academic achievements by earning accumulative GPA's of 3.2 or greater: Julia Witt (Webster, NY / Webster), Jack Cosmus (East Otis, MA / Lee), and Joshua Lopez (Newburgh, NY / Newburgh Free Academy). Witt and Lopez were also marked as peak performers for achieving cumulative GPA's of 3.5 or higher. Lopez earned All-AMCC Second Team honors in the one-meter diving.

Freshman Kaitlyn Quezada (Peekskill, NY / Peekskill) made school history at the conference championships by becoming the Broncos' first-ever NCAA conference finalist, competing in the 100-yard freestyle finals with a time of 57.51. She qualified after posting a time of 57.35 in the preliminaries. Quezada earned All-AMCC Second Team accolades for her performance in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 25.79. She set three new individual school records at the meet, including both her times in the 50 and 100-yard freestyles, as well as the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.63.

Witt and James Brunt (Vestal, NY / Vestal) were selected by their teammates for recognition on the AMCC Sportsmanship Team. Witt completed her Broncos career at the meet by breaking her won school record in the 1,650-yard freestyle at 20:19.87 and setting a personal best of 2:09.72 in the 200-yard freestyle. Brunt also wrapped up his SUNY Delhi career with highlights that featured a career-best time of 58.73 in the 100-yard freestyle.
