DELHI, N.Y. (December 7, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi swimming and diving teams welcomed William Paterson Saturday for an afternoon home meet. The women used the occasion to break the school record in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Alexandria Caceres, Julia Witt, Gabriela Solis, and Kaitlyn Quezada finished with a time of 4:07.02, beating the previous standard of 4:11.73 set in 2014. It marked the third school record the women have broken this season.

Saturday's meet also marked the last career meet for Witt as a Bronco. In addition to helping make history, she won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:11.81 and the 100-yard freestyle with a mark of 59.58. Witt then placed second in the 500-yard freestyle at 6:24.16. Witt holds the individual school record in the 1,650-yard freestyle at 21:05.91, and contributed to the 200-yard freestyle relay record of 1:50.46 that was set earlier this season.

Quezada totaled three wins on the day, taking top marks in the 200-yard IM at 2:24.30, 500-yard freestyle at 6:03.16, and the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:15.05.

The women previously set a pair of school records two weeks ago hosting their Fall Invitational. Quezada set a new standard in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:15.28, then the 200-yard freestyle relay by Quezada, Caceres, Solis, and Witt established a new mark of 1:50.46.

On the men's side, Tanner Ashton won the 500-yard freestyle at 7:14.22, followed by Jonathon Brathwaite taking the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:19.94. Ashton and Brathwaite then teamed up with James Brunt and Jeremiah Brathwaite to win the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:29.13. Jordan Washington won both diving events, taking the one meter with 224.85 points and the three meters at 206.10.

The women posted 72 points to WPU's 94. The men earned 80 points to the Pioneers' 114.

Head coach Mike Burud's team will settle down for winter break, and will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 25 with a road meet at Wells. The Broncos then will go to Vassar on Saturday, Feb. 1 before heading to the AMCC Championships from Wednesday, Feb. 19 to Saturday, Feb. 22.
