WEBSTER, N.Y. (February 21, 2020) – Freshman Kaitlyn Quezada (Peekskill, NY / Peekskill) conquered her second school record of the AMCC/Empire 8 Championships on day three Friday, beating her own mark in the 100-yard breaststroke with a preliminary time of 1:14.74, then surpassing that in the finals at 1:14.63. The freshman had broken the record twice during the regular season with times of 1:15.28 and 1:15.05.
Friday's session at the Webster Aquatic Center also featured freshman diver Joshua Lopez hitting the board in the one-meter trials, posting 189.75 points. Tanner Ashton competed in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing with a season-best time of 1:19.92. A trio of Broncos swam in the men's 100-yard breaststroke, with Taylor Filipowski clocking in at 1:17.05, Jonathon Brathwaite at 1:24.15, and Jeremiah Brathwaite at 1:24.34.
The fourth and final day of the championships Saturday features Julia Witt looking to repeat history by breaking the school record in the 1,650-yard freestyle in her final career race as a Bronco. The Webster, NY native set the record with a time of 21:05.91 at last year's AMCC Championships.
