Softball Falls Short in Doubleheader to Skidmore

Saratoga Springs, NY - The SUNY Delhi softball team returned to action looking to add to their strong start to the season, taking on Skidmore College for a doubleheader.

In game one, Skidmore would strike first, plating three unearned runs in the opening inning to take an early lead. First-year Carolina Bernard would help cut the deficit in the top of the second inning with an RBI double to center field, bringing the Broncos within two. The Thoroughbreds would open the floodgates in the bottom half of the inning with a seven-run rally to retake control of the contest. Skidmore would add additional runs in the later frames to coast to an 18-1 victory.

Similarly In game two, the Thoroughbreds would jump out to an early 5-0 and never looked back. Skidmore would stay red hot, totaling 12 runs in just four innings of play; sophomore Hannah Caughey would act as the lone bright spot for the Broncos, launching the first home run of her career to center field. In the end, Skidmore would earn the sweep collecting the 12-1 victory.

The Broncos fall to 6-8 on the year and will be back at it Tuesday for a home doubleheader against Morrisville.
