Myrtle Beach, SC - The SUNY Delhi softball team kicked off the 2025 season in dominant fashion, securing back-to-back wins to start the year on a high note. The Broncos were in command on both sides of the ball, delivering clutch hits and strong pitching performances to sweep their opening matchups. Delhi's 2-0 start sets the tone for what looks to be an exciting season ahead.
Delhi opened up in style, with an extra-innings thriller against the Hornets of Lyndon. The Broncos would start slow, falling behind early by four runs after just two innings of action. Senior Danielle Seymour would keep the Broncos in striking distance, plating Delhi's first score of the season on an RBI single. First-year Alethea Ferrara would make her Bronco debut, providing six innings of one earned ball in relief. The floodgates would open in the third inning as Delhi would score 4 to take their first lead. Sophomore Hannah Caughey opened the scoring with an RBI double, followed by a two-run double by Seymour. The Hornets would respond, eventually tying the contest at 6 apiece. The contest would go to extra innings when sophomore Rylee Falcone would call game, sending one to the wall in left field, as the Broncos escaped with a 7-6 victory.
Looking to keep the momentum rolling in game two, Delhi would do exactly that against the Badgers of Johnson. The Broncos would cruise to a 14-1 victory, plating multiple runs in each inning of play. Danielle Seymour's day wouldn't be over, this time on the mound pitching a complete game in dominant fashion. Delhi's top performers at the plate came from sophomore Cayla Moroni with a 4-4 performance along with 4 RBIs and first-year Samantha Martin, totaling an additional 2 hits and 2 RBIs.
The Broncos continue their southern road trip with rematches against Johnson and Lyndon.
