Delhi secures four set win over SUNY Cobleskill at home

Delhi, NY – Women's Volleyball hosted North Atlantic Conference rivals SUNY Cobleskill late Wednesday night and defeated the Fighting Tigers in a four-set battle. After previously falling to Cobleskill in five sets earlier in the season, the Broncos get some revenge posting a season-high in kills.

THE BASICS

Score: SUNY Delhi Broncos  3 | SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers 1  (30-28, 27-25, 20-25, 25-21)

Records: SUNY Delhi (5-13, 3-3) | SUNY Cobleskill (8-12, 3-3)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Broncos took an early 10-5 lead in the first set, thanks to senior Stephanie Burke's (West Winfield, NY) seven consecutive serves. Cobleskill fought back late, pushing the set into extra points, where it remained even until 28-28. That's when senior Gianna Militi (Syracuse, NY) sealed the set with a service ace following a Tiger's service error.

  • In the second set, Delhi once again jumped to an early 10-5 lead, with Militi contributing two more service aces. After four lead changes and 10 tie scores, the set also went into extra points before the Broncos secured it 27-25 with back-to-back kills from Sage Renneisen (Blue Point, NY) and Madelyn Diep (Baldwinsville, NY), taking a two-set lead.

  • The Tigers came out strong in the third set, eventually winning 25-20.

  • Renneisen's five kills in the fourth set, aided by Jaiden Venute's (Flushing, NY) 11 assists, were enough to grab the final set.

  • Two Broncos ended with double-digit kills as Chloe Elsenbeck (New Hartford, NY) had 10 and Renneisen ended with 14.

  • Venute had one of her best nights of the season, collecting 37 assists and 22 digs.

  • Freshman Madelyn Diep continued to play solid in the libero position with 32 service receptions on a .941 percentage.
