Women's Basketballs falls to NVU-Johnson 54-45 on the Road

Johnson, VT - The Broncos (2-7,0-2) traveled to play NAC opponents NVU-Johnson Saturday afternoon but were defeated 54-45. They cut the Badger lead to just three points with 3:49 remaining but couldn't complete the comeback.

Delhi would jump out at the beginning of the first quarter, stretching a lead to 7-2 before NVU would come back and make it 9-7. The rest of the first half with be airtight as the Broncos went into the half down 26-20. Ma'Kira Busnie and Francesca Vassilakos would combine for 12 points with six each as they outrebounded the Pioneers 18-13 in the first half.

The Broncos left it till late, going on a nine-point scoring run with 3:49 remaining in the half to bring the score to within three. They would have a big fourth quarter, forcing eight turnovers and coming back from a 46-31 deficit and turning it into a 48-45 game. NVU would end up pulling away at the very end but the Broncos still outscored them in the last quarter.

The Green and Gold battled it out in the paint with 30 points coming from the down low. Ma'Kira Busnie led the team with a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double, her second in five games this year. Vassilakos would also end up with 11 points, making all three of the Bronco's three-pointers.

The Broncos will be right back in action, traveling to SUNY Canton on Sunday, December 11th at 1:00 P.M.
