NAPLES, Fla. (March 6, 2020) – Day two of the SUNY Delhi softball team's trip down in Florida saw matchups against Clark and Martin Luther. The Broncos fell to the Clark Cougars by a 9-0 score, then fought hard in the latter contest against Martin Luther, where five Knights home runs served as the difference in a 12-6 defeat. CLARK 9, DELHI 0 (FIVE INNINGS)

After a scoreless first, the Cougars caught fire in the second inning, scoring six runs, then added another three runs in the fourth inning. The Broncos committed five errors and were held to just one hit, coming from Natasha Picozzi. Senior Molly Greene pitched all four innings, giving up three earned runs and eight hits.

MARTIN LUTHER 12, DELHI 6

Things got started with a lot of fire power in the first inning for both teams. After giving up three Knights runs in the first, the Broncos answered back in the bottom frame with three of their own to tie the game at 3-3. Kayla Beers, Sam Mendelson and Katelynn Rose all had RBI singles. Both sides exchanged one run in the second inning, with Sierra Keesler providing an RBI double to keep the game knotted up.

Despite a solid outing by the defense and pitching from Rose, the Broncos were unable to match up with the Knights' swing power. Elena Hoffman, Brittany Denn, and Samantha Schoch used the outgoing winds to their advantage by combining for five home runs that produced 11 of Martin Luther's 12 runs scored. Hoffman hit three homers in a 4-for-5, nine-RBI day, featuring a three-run shot in the first and a grand slam in the top of the seventh that made the score 12-4. Sierra Keesler answered for the Broncos with a two-run shot in the bottom of the seventh for Delhi's last runs of the game.

Shelby Nolan finished the game 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Keesler finished 2-for-4 with one double, one home run, and three RBIs. Dakota Baker batted 2-for-3, while Rachael Scoones and Jaylynn Sheppard each had one hit to account for the Broncos' 11-hit game. Rose gave up 12 earned runs with two strikeouts.
