Keesler, Rose Open Season with ACAA Weekly Honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (March 3, 2020) – The SUNY Delhi softball season lifted off last week with the Broncos scoring a combined 56 runs in their opening doubleheader against Northern Vermont Lyndon at the Adirondack Sports Complex. For their outstanding performances, senior Sierra Keesler (Hancock, NY / Hancock Central) was awarded ACAA Player of the Week and freshman Katelynn Rose (Hyde Park, NY / Franklin D. Roosevelt) earned ACAA Pitcher of the Week. Delhi is 2-0 to start the season and are set to travel to Florida this week for an eight-game trip.

Keesler batted 3-for-5 in the opening contest with three RBIs, hitting a home run in her first at-bat of the season. She then batted a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBIs in the night cap, going yard once again with a three-run shot in the second inning. Keesler's totals were batting 7-for-9, two home runs, and nine RBIs.

Rose pitched the first game of the double header and held the Hornets scoreless through four innings. Rose finished with seven strikeouts while allowing two runs on five hits in five innings pitched. Rose also contributed to the Broncos' offense, adding a grand slam in the Broncos 14-run second inning.

Rose, Keesler and the Broncos will make a trip to Fort Myers, FL this weekend, playing eight games over four days. Their southern slate features games versus Albion and Drew on Thursday, Clark and Martin Luther on Friday, Kenyon and Finlandia Saturday, and finally Rockester Institute of Technology and Anna Maria on Sunday.
