FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 7, 2020) – SUNY Delhi softball carried on with their Florida trip on day three with games versus Kenyon (Ohio) and Finlandia (Mich.). The Broncos were beaten by a 10-2 score by the Kenyon Lords, then were beaten, 11-3, by the Finlandia Lions. Delhi completes its trip tomorrow with games against Rochester Institute of Technology and Anna Maria in Fort Myers.

KENYON 10, DELHI 2 (FIVE INNINGS)

The Broncos had a rough start to day three, allowing seven Kenyon runs in the first inning. But Delhi took action in the latter half, with a pair of hits from Shelby Nolan and Sierra Keesler leading to a two-out, two-RBI single from Kayla Beers to cut the deficit to five. That would be the Broncos' only offense, however, as the Lords tacked on three more runs in the third for the remaining scoring.

Katelynn Rose pitched three innings, allowing six hits and striking out one, while producing one hit at the plate. Molly Greene came in relief, giving up just three hits in two innings of work. All ten runs scored by Kenyon were unearned as eight errors hampered the Broncos defense. Jaylynn Sheppard had Delhi's remaining hit.

FINLANDIA 11, DELHI 3 (FIVE INNINGS)

The Broncos jumped out to a quick 2-0 run after the top of the first, thanks to a Dakota Baker bases-loaded single to drive in a pair of runs. Finlandia answered with one run in the bottom half, then found a sweet spot in the second, scoring nine runs on seven hits. Delhi got one back in the third on a double steal that brought Shelby Nolan home and Kayla Beers to second. Though relief pitcher Molly Greene kept the Lions scoreless through the next two innings, Finlandia's Dania Bent wrapped up the game with a two-out RBI double in the bottom of the fifth.

Katelynn Rose pitched 1.1 innings, allowing six earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts. Greene pitched the remaining 3.1 frames, giving up one earned run on four hits. The Broncos totaled four hits, which featured a double from Nolan and singles by Baker, Sierra Keesler, and Jaylynn Sheppard.
