SUNY Delhi Ties for First Overall in ACAA President's Cup, Men Take Gold

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (July 25, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi Athletic Department shared the overall top spot with Alfred State for the American Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) President's Cup, with the institutions each accounting for 50 points. The Broncos won on the men's side with 20 points, backed by a pair of team championships from men's cross country and men's basketball. The women placed fourth with 30 points, aided with a conference title in women's cross country.

The ACAA President's Cup is calculated using a formula that awards points based on finishes in ACAA Championships and the final Massey Rankings, where applicable. Each institution receives a percentage of points possible to determine the final standings.

SUNY Delhi chalked up its 2018-19 ACAA campaign making conference championship appearances in seven sponsored sports, winning three ACAA team championships. Men's and women's cross country hosted the conference championships for the second straight year, sweeping the ACAA team crowns, as well as men's harrier Kobie Lane picking up his third straight individual league title. It marked the men's team's third straight ACAA title and the second team championship for the women in the last three years. Men's basketball fought mightily to win the ACAA Tournament, hosted by Alfred State, rallying late in both their semifinals and finals contests to come out on top.

Women's volleyball hosted the ACAA Tournament in November, coming in third. Men's and women's soccer qualified for the ACAA Tournament, hosted by Finlandia University, where the men reached the ACAA Finals. Softball gained entry to the league tournament at Alfred State for the third straight season.

SUNY Delhi will continue to compete in the ACAA in men's and women's basketball and softball through the 2019-20 season, and will serve as hosts for the 2020 men's basketball conference tournament from Saturday, February 29 to Sunday, March 1.
