PHOTOS: SUNY Delhi Athletics Fall 2018 Look Book

DELHI, N.Y. (December 13, 2018) – SUNY Delhi Athletics has wrapped up an extraordinary fall season, and their first as official NCAA Division III members. Aside from the noteworthy accomplishments of the sports programs, the Broncos also celebrated many groundbreaking events during the season.

FALL SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

Men's Cross Country: USCAA Champions (third consecutive year), ACAA Champions (third consecutive year), ACAA Championships Hosts, Six All-Americans, Kobie Lane – USCAA Individual Champion (second consecutive year) and ACAA Individual Champion (third consecutive year), Robb Munro – ACAA Coach of the Year

Women's Cross Country: USCAA Third Place, ACAA Champions, ACAA Championships Hosts, Two All-Americans, Robb Munro – USCAA Coach of the Year

Men's Golf: USCAA Second Place, NAC Second Place, Two All-Americans, Daniel Christy – NAC Individual Champion, Dave Arehart – NAC Coach of the Year

Women's Golf: Alison Agoglia – USCAA Individual Champion

NCAA Debut & Ribbon Cutting – September 2

The women's volleyball and men's and women's soccer programs shared the billing as the three teams hosted their first official games as NCAA Division III members. Prior to their contests, the Broncos celebrated their new chapter with a ceremonial ribbon cutting. SUNY Delhi President Michael Laliberte and Vice President of Student Life Tomas Aguirre were on hand to officially serve up and kick off the festivities on a day where volleyball defeated Dean and Valley Forge, and men's and women's soccer both beat Alfred State.

Women's Tennis Family Weekend - September 22

As part of SUNY Delhi’s Family Weekend, the women’s tennis team invited their families and all families for their home match against Farmingdale State. Fans were treated to a barbecue up at Clark Field House as they looked on to witness the Broncos battling fiercely with the Rams.

SAAC Volleyball Fan Appreciation Night – October 18

The SUNY Delhi Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held its Fan Appreciation Night, sponsored by Cadi, in conjunction with women's volleyball's home contest against Elmira. Fans in attendance received free T-Shirts, along with snow cones and prizes, courtesy of Cadi. The night also marked the final home regular season contest for senior Kristen Maslanka, who was honored prior to the match. She was introduced by head coach Beau Bracchy in a heart-warming speech, as Maslanka made history by becoming the program's first four-year student-athlete. The night also was a moment of adulation for the men's and women's golf teams. Golfers Daniel Christy and Alison Agoglia were recognized for their championship performances, as Christy won the NAC individual championship, and Agoglia winning the USCAA individual title. Head coach Dave Arehart was also honored for being named the NAC Coach of the Year, as his men's golf team placed second at both the USCAA National Championships and their first-ever NAC Championships.

ACAA Cross Country Championships – October 27

On a cold, rainy, soggy day at The College Golf Course, the women's and men's harriers welcomed conference members Alfred State, Finlandia, Mills, Pratt, and Valley Forge for the ACAA Championships. The women started things by winning the team championship by one point with a 42 total. Though Alfred State featured the individual champion, with two in the top three and three in the top eight, the Broncos won out by having five in the top 15 to secure the team title. By the time the Pioneers' fifth runner crossed the finish line, six Delhi runners already had. The men carried the winning spirit over by handily taking their third straight league title, posting nine runners in the top ten for a whopping 17-point total. Kobie Lane picked up his third consecutive ACAA individual crown, distancing himself from the rest of the pack by nearly one-and-a-half minutes.

ACAA Volleyball Tournament - November 3-4

Following a 13-11 regular season and ranking as high as fifth in the USCAA National Coaches' Poll, women's volleyball served as the hosts for the ACAA Tournament. The Broncos welcomed Thomas More, Alfred State and Finlandia to Floyd L. Maines Arena for the two-day tournament. Delhi experienced an extraordinary challenge in their semifinals match with the Thomas More Saints, where the eventual conference champions went on to reach the NCAA regional finals. Senior Kristen Maslanka was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Athletics Hall of Fame Ceremony/Basketball Hall of Fame Classic - November 17

SUNY Delhi introduced three new inductees to the Athletics Hall of Fame in a memorable day-long ceremony. 2007 graduate Hikaru Kozuma became the first inductee from the sport of volleyball, while 1965 graduate and three-sport athlete Robin Turner entered the hall from the sports of baseball, basketball and soccer. The 1991-92 men's basketball team was honored, as they and head coach Gary Cole were recognized for becoming the first 30-win team in program history. All were inducted in a special brunch ceremony in Alumni Hall, followed by being recognized before the men's basketball team's season opener against Villa Maria. The Broncos treated their distinguished crowd to a high-scoring contest versus the Vikings, electrified by opening the game on a 12-0 run.
