THE BASICS

Score: SUNY Delhi Broncos 6 | Pratt Cannoneers 0

Records: SUNY Delhi (7-2-4,3-1-2) | Pratt University (1-6-1, 0-0)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • After some solid chances for the Broncos on goal they finally pushed one through in the 17th minute as freshman Jaquan Williams (Hempstead, NY) set up senior Justin Huallanca (Levittown, NY). Williams streaked across the wing and then crossed into the box, finding Huallanca for his second of the year.

  • Just a few moments later, Williams would get a goal of his own, beating everyone to a long ball and then getting around the keeper. The play was set up by an incredible long ball from Erik Kleczkowski (Staten Island, NY). Williams, the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week last week, now has six goals in six appearances in his first year in the green and gold.

  • Delhi would go into the half holding a 2-0 lead, as freshman Salvator Meloni (Ridge, NY)  took over the goalkeeping duties from senior Jon Walch (Brewster, NY).

  • The Broncos came out in a stampede in the second half as freshman Roberto Velasquez-Osorio (Monticello, NY) scored two goals in rapid fashion. He slotted away one in the 46th minute and it did it again just one minute later in the 47th.

  • He would then assist on a goal to sophomore Matt Serrao (Franklin, NY), playing a wonderful one-two pass inside the box.

  • Velasquez-Osorio then secured his second-half hat-trick in just 14 minutes into the half, firing a volley in the back of the net from just inside the box assisted by Sinas Bouzikos (Cologne, Germany).

  • The Broncos ended with 27 total shots to Pratt's four, while the defense collected their eighth shutout of the year.

COMMENTS FROM COACH REUTEMANN:

"We are at that point where the cold weather of a college soccer season is here to stay. A great response to start the second half really opened up the game. Collectively the energy and focus of the entire group shined bright tonight. A clean sheet and adding some goals are a nice start but we must be sharp come tomorrow for a vital conference matchup at home. "

UP NEXT FOR THE BRONCOS
