Broncos end in 2-2 stalemate with NAC opponent SUNY Canton

Delhi, NY – Men's Soccer took on North Atlantic Conference opponents SUNY Canton on a rainy afternoon at Neil Riddell Field, ending in a 2-2 draw with the Roo's.

THE BASICS

Result: SUNY Delhi Broncos 2 | SUNY Canton Kangaroos 2

Records: SUNY Delhi (3-2-2, 0-2) | SUNY Canton (2-5-1, 0-1-1)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Delhi jumped out to an early lead with a goal in the 4th minute from a solo senior Anthony Cuellar (Liberty, NY) effort. He fought off a defender to break away and then beat the Canton keeper to put the Broncos ahead for his third goal of the year.

  • They added to their total just two minutes later in the 6th minute when freshman Jaquan Williams (Hempstead, NY) introduced himself to the team with an excellent through ball to junior forward Michael Williams Jr., (Lake Grove, NY)who fired the ball past the keeper with a one-timed shot from just inside the box.

  • That would be William's first assist in the green and gold after making his first start, while it was Williams Jr.'s second goal of the season.

  • Goalkeeper Jon Walsh (Brewster, NY) had three saves in the half as they went into the break with a two-goal lead.

  • After a few more chances for the Broncos in the second half on five shots, it was SUNY Canton who struck next with two consecutive late goals, one from the penalty spot in the 77th minute and another in the 84th minute to even the score.
