WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The first half was back and forth, with Delhi seeing a few good chances on the Hartwick goal. The Delhi defense continued to dominate, only allowing one shot on goal as they went into halftime tied at zero.

  • The second half was just as close, with neither team able to pull away until the 77th minute when the Hawks took the lead, marking the first goal the Broncos had conceded in 436 minutes played this year.

  • Hartwick added to their total from the penalty spot in the 89th minute, wrapping up the scoring.

  • Delhi ended with seven shots, five of which threatened the goal.

COMMENTS FROM COACH REUTEMANN:

"That was a really fast and high-tempo game. I was proud of the groups intensity before and during the game. With a team like Hartwick who comes at you in waves and does such a good job of spreading you out with the ball, I thought we were excellent to cover the spaces in transition. Some early cautions changed the dynamic of the midfield position and I was impressed with Derek Fuentes and Justin Huallanca who stepped up to the task. I know we would like some of the chances we missed back but we will use them as reminders to be just that much better next time. Although this was a loss, it is a big step forward in terms of small improvements from our last game. We must be at our very best come Saturday's NAC opener."

UP NEXT FOR THE BRONCOS

Delhi Men's Soccer will look forward to their North Atlantic Conference match of the season, traveling to SUNY Poly on Saturday, September 13th.
