WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Freshman Roberto Velasquez-Osorio (Monticello, NY) scored the first college goal of his career with an excellent strike to start the scoring in the 23rd minute, assisted by Junior Erik Kleczkowski (Staten Island, NY). • In the 54th minute, they added to their goal total when Kleczkowski found senior Anthony Cuellar (Liberty, NY) in the middle of the box with a short cross, putting the Broncos ahead 2-0.

  • Klecskowski was incredible on the ball, playing a role in both Bronco goals. He is off to a hot start, doubling his career assists in one match.

  • The Delhi backline dominated the entire 90 minutes, allowing only four total shots, none of which threatened the goal.

  • Four players made their SUNY Delhi debuts, with freshman Velasquez, Aidan Gaughan (Bronx, NY), Matthew Pozo (Yorktown Heights, NY), and Garrett Gill seeing their first collegiate action.

COMMENTS FROM COACH REUTEMANN

"It was fantastic to get back out on Riddell in front of our home fans who brought great energy to our group. The "whiteout" event was tremendous and provided us with support on a beautiful night. It took a bit for us to settle into how we wanted to play but I thought our leaders did a great job of providing us with that direction. A clean sheet on the first game of the season was a big goal of ours and something we have discussed many times throughout preseason. We are enthused with executing that task and continuing into our next road game this Wednesday."

UP NEXT FOR THE BRONCOS

Delhi will be on the road next, traveling to Elmira College on Wednesday, September 6th, kicking off at 4:00 PM EST.
