DELHI, N.Y. (October 7, 2021) – SUNY Delhi is excited and ready to host this year's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Golf Championships, set to be held the weekend of Saturday, Oct. 9 and Sunday, Oct. 10 at The College Golf Course. First tee is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The Broncos were chosen number two in the NAC Pre-Championship Poll behind Husson, as voted on by the league coaches.

Head coach Dave Arehart's team's quest for their third straight conference title is slightly different from their past outings, fielding a new crop who will be making their NAC Championship debuts. Through five tournaments and seven rounds, this group looks to make a statement to keep the NAC cup in Delhi and make the program's first trip to NCAA nationals this spring. This past spring, the Broncos won the NAC West and then the following week's head-to-head with NAC East-champion Husson to win their second straight conference championship. The Delhi Five that carried out that mission have all graduated, with three returning golfers and two newcomers tasked to become the second program in NAC history to win at least three consecutive league crowns. Pre-Championship favorite Husson won eight straight NAC titles from 2006 to 2013 and four consecutive from 2015 to 2018.

Sophomore Thomas Christoffersen was recently named the NAC Golfer of the Week for his second-place performance at the SUNY Oswego Fall Invitational the weekend of Sept. 25-26. He leads Delhi with a 78.73 scoring average, including a season low of 72 on his home course during Delhi's dual match with SUNY Cobleskill on Sept. 5. Freshman Andrew Saar collected NAC Rookie of the Week accolades for his career debut scoring a 71 at the SUNY Cobleskill Fall Invitational on Sept. 4. He is second on the team with an 82 average. Sophomore Thomas Long earned Bronco of the Week honors when he placed 14th at SUNY Oswego as an individual competitor. He ranks third with an 82.78 average, including a best of 78 in the first round of The Gauntlet in Pennsylvania on Sept. 11. Senior John Williamson will finally make his NAC title chase debut, ranking fourth on the program with an 85.20 average, shooting a pair of 79's for his season low versus SUNY Cobleskill on Sept. 5 and at SUNY Oswego on Sept. 25. Newcomer Sean Gordon earned Bronco of the Week honors when he finished tied with Christoffersen as Delhi's top finisher at The Gauntlet in 31st place with a 158 two-day score (78, 80). His low this year came on his home course with a 76 in the dual match with Cobleskill.

Husson took the lead spot in the pre-championship poll with 79 points and seven first-place votes, while SUNY Delhi ranked second with 73 points and two first-place votes. Thomas took third with 58 points, while SUNY Canton ranked fourth with 57 points. Maine Farmington got fifth with 38 points and SUNY Cobleskill sixth with 34 points. Maine Maritime was seventh with 27 points, Northern Vermont Johnson eighth with 25 points, and Maine Presque Isle ninth with 14 points.
