Maslanka Honored as Broncos Fall to Bard

DELHI, N.Y. (October 17, 2017) – Despite coming back to win the second set, the SUNY Delhi women's volleyball team were undone on Tuesday night by Bard. The Raptors grabbed set one, 25-13, and after the Broncos won set two, 25-22, Bard came back with 25-15 and 25-16 sets to clinch the match.

Prior to Tuesday's match, Broncos junior Kristen Maslanka was honored for breaking the school career record for kills during Delhi's road contest with Bryn Mawr on Saturday at the Utica Invitational. She broke the record of 509, set by Kelsey Pratt from 2009-10, and had 522 career kills entering Tuesday. In addition, Maslanka was bestowed with player of the week honors from both the USCAA and NIAC earlier Tuesday. She was honored by coaches Beau Bracchy and Cindy Taylor, Associate Athletic Director Cathy Foto, Vice President for Student Life Tomas Aguirre and Blaze.

Maslanka responded by finishing second on Delhi with five kills, with Taylor Tsatsis notching a team-high six kills on the night. Maslanka also finished second on the squad with 13 digs, where libero Kyoko Shimizu finished first with 22 for the Broncos. Setter Emma King had 16 assists on the night, while Tsatsis and Ashley Hintz each led Delhi with two service aces. Madison Saleman added ten digs.
