Broncos Display Depth in Sweep to Elmira to start Elmira Tourney

ELMIRA, N.Y. (September 8, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi women's volleyball team headed to the Elmira College Tournament on Friday evening, opening the two-day, three-match competition with a 3-0 defeat to the host Soaring Eagles. Elmira posted 25-13, 25-17, and 25-14 victories on the night. The Broncos, now 0-2, will compete against Cazenovia and Alfred State at Elmira on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., respectively.

Compared to their season opener on Wednesday, head coach Beau Bracchy utilized more of his bench and first-year players against the Soaring Eagles. Eleven Broncos took the court on the evening, with Kristen Maslanka and Mikayla Catherman tying for the team lead with four kills, with Catherman also recording six digs. Freshman Kyoko Shimizu, in her first career match, led the team with nine digs, while setter Emma King finished with eight assists. King also had five digs on the evening. Taylor Tsatsis had a match-high three blocks, all assists, along with seven digs. Regan Hubner tallied three kills.
