Broncos Take 2-of-3 at Green Mountain Tournament

POULTNEY, Vt. (October 8, 2017) – After an early defeat to Maine Presque Isle, the SUNY Delhi women's volleyball team came back with sweeps over Johnson State and Green Mountain on Saturday to record a successful day at the Green Mountain College Invitational.

 

MAINE PRESQUE ISLE 3, SUNY DELHI 1

Maine Presque Isle and SUNY Delhi exchanged set wins, with the Owls taking set one, 25-10, and the Broncos winning set two, 25-15. MPI went on to take the next two games, 25-12 and 25-15. SUNY Delhi held a 14-12 lead in the fourth set, before the Owls took 13 of the next 14 points. Kristen Maslanka led the Broncos with seven kills and had 18 digs. Kyoko Shimizu had a match-high 24 digs, while Emma King led the team with 20 assists. King, along with Regan Hubner and Taylor Tsatsis, also had four kills.

 

SUNY DELHI 3, JOHNSON STATE 0

The Broncos finished with 31 service aces, led by seven each from Kristen Maslanka and Taylor Tsatsis, as they cruised to 25-3, 25-6 and 25-8 set victories. Tsatsis led the team with five kills and a .625 kill percentage, while setter Emma King had 13 assists. The Broncos finished with a .289 kill percentage, with Kyoko Shimizu and Emily Muller each posting a perfect 1.000, combining for three kills.

 

SUNY DELHI 3, GREEN MOUNTAIN 0

The Broncos closed out their busy day sweeping host Green Mountain to the tune of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-11 set wins. Regan Hubner posted a team-best five kills and a .333 kill mark. Emma King again led the way with 15 assists, with Kristen Maslanka and Madison Saleman each registering a team-best eight digs. Saleman also had a match-high six service aces, while Maslanka and Haylee Lefebvre each finished second on the squad with four kills. Taylor Tsatsis added three kills and five service aces. Kyoko Shimizu had seven digs, one kill and one assist.
