Women's Tennis Wins Third Straight, Beats Vaughn 6-3

QUEENS, N.Y. (October 15, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi women's tennis team took advantage of their stadium-like surroundings in their 6-3 win over Vaughn on Sunday. Playing at the Billie Jean King USTA Tennis Center, home of the U.S. Open, the Broncos rallied around a pair of doubles wins and four singles victories for their third straight win to improve to 4-7.

Reika Kumasaki, Mackenzie Landman and Luchana Stroud each reeled off singles and doubles wins on the afternoon. Kumasaki and doubles mate Rani Samudrala beat Maia Rivers and Emily German at the one spot, 8-4, followed by Kumasaki beating German at two singles, 10-3. Landman and Stroud beat Cheres Castaneda and Laila Tariq at three doubles, pulling out a 9-8 (2) tiebreaker win. Landman went on to beat Grace Davis, 10-8, at four singles, while Stroud defeated Shanece Calvert 10-9 (7) in another tiebreaking thriller at six singles. Antonia Delavera had Delhi's last remaining win of the day, defeating Rivers in the top singles spot by a 10-8 score.
