USCAA COACHES POLLS – WEEK 1

NORFOLK, Va. (September 27, 2018) – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) released its first edition of the Division II Women's Soccer Coaches Rankings. With an unbeaten 7-0 record, head coach Lauren Mackay's team topped the poll with 198 votes.

The Broncos have had a magnificent start to the 2018 season, with two of their wins coming in double overtime and four others decided by three goals or more. Their most recent victory came in the form of a 3-0 win at Morrisville State last Wednesday, where freshman goalkeeper Rachael Scoones earned ACAA Defensive Player of the Week for her five-save shutout performance. Delhi's sole match thus far among teams in this week's poll was an 8-1 win over 15th-ranked Penn State Hazleton on Sept. 15.

Senior Katie Herba and freshmen Kelsey Innes lead Delhi with eight goals, with Herba also leading the team with 20 points and four assists. A good deal of credit to the Broncos' success so far goes to the defense, which has posted four shutouts and has allowed only four goals. Scoones is 3-0 on the year in goal, logging two shutouts and allowing three goals, while fellow freshman goalie Jessica Shultis is 4-0 and allowing one goal.

Southern Maine CC came in second in the rankings with 197 votes, with NHTI third at 187 votes. Cincinnatti Clermont is fourth at 186 votes, while Central Penn ranked fifth with 185 votes. Of teams in this week's poll that Delhi is due to face this season is at ninth-ranked Albany College of Pharmacy on Oct. 2 and at tenth-ranked SUNY ESF on Oct. 7. In addition, the Broncos have matches lined up with ranked opponents in the Division I poll. That includes at 11th-ranked Valley Forge on Oct. 13 and a home match with third-ranked Bryant & Stratton Syracuse on Oct. 20.

Delhi looks to close out the month of September with one final victory this Saturday, hosting Green Mountain at 1:00 p.m.
