Baratto Nets Two in 3-1 Win over Green Mountain, Ladies Remain Perfect

DELHI, N.Y. (September 29, 2018) – The last time junior Devin Baratto recorded a multi-goal game was the first game of her freshman year. The forward returned to the well on Saturday against Green Mountain, netting the latter two of Delhi's three goals to secure the team a 3-1 victory. The Broncos continue their unbeaten season at 8-0, holding up their status as the top-ranked team in the latest national USCAA Division II Coaches Poll.

It was Sam Acuna's first career goal that got Delhi started against the Eagles, as she headed in a pass from Kaitlin McGuiness at the 11:54 mark of the first half. The Broncos defense again was masterful, allowing just four total shots throughout the match to make Delhi's lead stand. That effort was rewarded when Baratto netted her first score following a corner kick and assist from Sydney Tuysuzian at the 35:49 mark to put Delhi ahead, 2-0, heading into halftime.

Green Mountain got one back when a Broncos foul in the box prompted Avery Barber to secure a score to slim Delh's lead to 2-1. The defense, again, responded to the challenge by not allowing a single Eagles shot for the rest of the contest. And again, Baratto gave Delhi a two-goal lead after finding the net from a Brianna Laing assist in the 74th minute.

Goalkeeper Rachael Scoones, fresh off an ACAA Athlete of the Week award earlier this week, recorded a pair of saves to improve to 4-0 on the year in goal. Delhi outshot GMC, 34-4, including a 19-3 lead in shots on goal. The Broncos also had ten corner-kick chances to the Eagles' one.

Head coach Lauren Mackay's team has their next test Tuesday evening, when they travel to face Albany College of Pharmacy at 5:00 p.m.
