Men's Golf Places 3rd at Elmira Invitational

Delhi - Delhi Golf traveled to the Elmira Men's Golf Invitational Tuesday at 11 AM, placing third and seventh.

The Broncos faced 10 other teams but had a successful day just four strokes from first. Their (A) team scored 329 (+41) coming in third, while the (B) team placed seventh with 348 (+60).

"Elmira Country Club is a real challenging test of golf. Our players put forth plenty of effort but we played less consistent than we wanted and made a couple of big numbers down the stretch. Those are things we will work on to improve," said head coach Dave Arehart, "John Williamson was a bright spot. He has been working really hard on his game and I am happy it is paying off. He maintained steady play and showed leadership today keeping his round together."

The top four for Delhi's (A) team came in the top 12, all scoring an 83 or less. John Williamson had a great day leading the Broncos with an 80 and placing 8th. He had an impressive 10 pars on the day, including six in the back nine. Tom Christoffersen, Jordan Starley and David Flannery all were in a four-way tie for 12th place, scoring an 81.

Branson Morrison led the Bronco's second five-man team with an impressive score of 81 placing 9th. He had one of the best rounds of his season with eight pars and a birdie. Gabe Horsford tied for 20th while Freshman Rocco Macera was right behind tying for 23rd.

Up next, the Broncos will travel to the George Cangero Invitational at Bethpage State Park on Saturday, September 17th.
