Bronco of the Week #4 Sabrina Richards, Jacob Beach & Mavenson Therneus (2/27)

After a big week in SUNY Delhi athletics, three athletes have been chosen as Bronco of the Week! Men's basketball has two selections after their first-ever North Atlantic Conference Championships and NCAA tournament birth. Track and field sent over a few runners back out to Boston University for a last-chance qualifier meet for selected team members that were looking to improve national or regional rankings.

Sabrina Richards- (Westchester, NY | Bellport HS) Women’s Indoor Track & Field

Senior Sabrina Richards made good use of her third career trip to Boston with a career day. She ran a new indoor lifetime best for the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.40, making her the second-fastest woman in Delhi history in the event. She will race next at the AARTFC Regional race this weekend, likely improving her time as the competition grows.

Jacob Beach - (Walton, NY - Walton HS) Men’s Basketball
For the third week in a row, senior Jacob Beach has been given the honor of Bronco of the Week. Leading the Broncos to their first-ever North Atlantic Championship and winning the Tournament MVP, Beach was outstanding throughout the weekend. He was able to hit some critical shots in Delhi comeback after trailing for over 35 minutes in the championship game. His effort and tenacity in every play were contagious as he scored 18 points and put up a team-high eight rebounds.

Mavenson Therneus (Spring Valley, NY - Spring Valley) Men’s Basketball

Mavenson Therneus had an incredible championship game, playing the key role in the second-half comeback. After having a quiet first half with just four points, Therneus came out in the second half on fire hitting four big three-pointers. He ended with the game-high 21 points and a spot on the All-NAC Tournament team. He shot 60% (six-for-ten) from the field and 67% (four-for-six) from three in the second half.
