Lester McCarthy exploded this week, leading the Broncos to wins over Morrisville State 95-77 and Castleton 77-63. Delhi now boasts a (4-2) record, as Lester picked up North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week.
McCarthy played a key role in both games, leading the team in scoring both times. In the first game, he scored 27 points, tying his career high and putting up the season-high for the Green and Gold. He was a force all over the court, adding five rebounds (three offensive), six assists and three steals. McCarthy had an incredible overall game, shooting the ball veryefficiently. The sophomore guard went 50% from the field and 46.7% from the three.
Lester followed the first performance up with another great game, scoring the team and game-high 23 points. He once again proved he can make an impact besides scoring, putting up eight rebounds (two offensive), two assists and one steal. He shot 44% from the field and 41% from deep to continue his hot hand.
Through the two games, Lester put up 50 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists and four steals while shooting .47% (18-of-38) from the field and .444 (12-of-27) from long range. He made 12 threes and was a big part of the Broncos team starting to heat up.
McCarthy and the Broncos will be in action this week on Wednesday, November 30th at 7:00 P.M. against Clarks Summit in Delhi.
