Suny Delhi Cross Country Starts the New Season off Fast, with Both Men and Women taking Home Top Spot

Delhi - Both Men and Women's Cross Country started their season today at the Short Course Tri-Meet at Oneonta. They competed against both Hartwick College and SUNY Oneonta, with the Men's team placing second and the Women racing to first.

Without the complete roster, Delhi used this invitational to kick-start their year. They ran a shorter the normal, 4,000-meter course, so the Broncos used this race to get everyone up to speed and ready for the year.

"We didn't have our full Men's squad but it was a good meet to give some of the freshmen a chance to race and see where they're at.'' said head coach Brown, "The women did great with freshman Alexa Wolcott leading the way. Our goal remains to be competitive in the NAC Conference and competes for the conference championship"

The Men had a good start to their season with two Freshman Broncos coming across first and second. Derek Leiter led the pack with a time of 13:34, while Nathan Goodwin followed at 13:36.

The Lady Broncos started off their season with a successful race taking home five of the top seven spots. Freshman, Alexa Walcott crossed the finish line first for the meet with a time of 15:37, with Kristina Messler right behind her at 16:21. Marissa Lombardi, Mary Lyons and Arianna Araujo all came in under 18 minutes and rounded out the Broncos' five in the top seven.

Delhi Cross Country will now look forward to the Ron Stonitsch Invitational at Vassar Farm on September 10th.
