Cross Country Ends Day in Oneonta with Seven Broncos Breaking Personal Records

Delhi - Both the Men's and Women's Cross Country teams traveled to the Oneonta State Airfield Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning. The women placed third out of six teams while the men came second out of five. 

It was a great race day for the Broncos as seven runners hit a new personal record. The Lady Broncos had their four top scorers all come in the top 25. Freshman Alexa Wolcott led the way in the 6k with a 3rd overall finish with a time of 23.48.8. Mary Lyons also had an excellent day on the course with a 10th-place finish and a new PR. While Marissa Lombardi and Hope Mulligan, both ran for new personal records. 

The Men came in second overall with six runners in the top 20. Aidan Cutting had an incredible race, breaking his personal record and placing fourth overall. He was followed by Seth Bywater and his 6th place finish in the 8k. Freshman, Derek Leiter and Nathan Goodwin also broke their personal records today in Oneonta. Leiter placed 11th overall with a time of 27:38.1 while Goodwin came in 15th with a time of 28:13.8. Sam Lees also had a great race breaking his PR in the 8k as well to round off the successful day for the Broncos.

"Lot of PRs today on a favorable course," said head coach Zach Brown, "I like where we are as a team as we prepare for NACs next month."

The Broncos had an all-around solid race and looked to be right on track for the season. Their next race will be right here in Delhi at the Bronco Classic on October 4th.
