John Amenta and Alexa Walcott Win NAC Runner of the Year Honors

Canton, NY - Two Cross Country members were recognized with NAC Runner of the Year honors after winning their individual race in the NAC Championships this past weekend. 

Freshman Alexa Wolcott won the women’s 6K race as an individual with a time of 23:52, 12 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. She capped off a stellar season with another great outing, securing NAC Runner and Rookie of the Year by winning the individual crown out of 57 runners. 

Other Broncos received end of the year awards to after their incredible efforts in the NAC Championships as Kristina Messler and Kailyn Oreglio made it to the First Team All-NAC, placing fourth and fifth in the championship race. While Mary Lyons placed 11th overall and landed on the Second Team All-NAC. 

John Amenta led the men's team with a great outing, winning the men’s 8K race with a time of 26:19 out of a field of 74 runners. With the individual win in the championships, he would secure the NAC Runner of the Year award. Amenta would also receive First Team All-NAC honors as well. He was followed by Seth Bywater who came in second and was awarded to the First-Team All-NAC. 

Aiden Cutting also had a very solid race, placing seventh overall which secured him a spot on the First Team All-NAC. While the two freshman Derek Leiter and Nathan Goodwin’s 13th and 14th place put them on the Second Team All-NAC as well. 

The Bronco wrapped up an incredible season with numerous individual awards and one NAC Championship. But they aren’t done just yet with the NCAA Regional Championships on November 12th at Genesee Valley Park.
