Men's Cross Country Back for 2022 Season

Men's Cross Country Back for 2022 Season

Delhi, New York - Men's Cross Country Back for 2022 Season

Men's Cross Country returns to the 2022 season ranked 10th in the Niagara Region. This is the program's first-ever pre-season recognition since joining the NCAA Division III two years ago.

Under the tutelage of second-year head coach Zach Brown, the Broncos look to take another step in the NCAA. After finishing as runners-up in the conference last season the goal is to take home the championship this year.

The returning cast is led by Seth Bywater who was SUNY Delhi's first-ever NCAA National Qualifier in any sport. He holds the fifth-fastest 8K time in the program history after his 25:25.8 time at the NCAA Championships.

He will be running alongside returning teammates John Amenta, Aiden Cutting and Lewis Race. John was one of Delhi's top runners last year after receiving All-Region honors and finishing 28th at the Regional Meet. Aiden and Lewis both are important runners from last year, finishing in the top 90 at the Niagara Regionals.

The team will be joined by three Freshmen who will look to fight for a place in the top five.

"I am very excited about both of our cross country programs this season. The men's team is returning a lot of our top guys from last year and adding in a few strong runners to the mix this year," said coach Brown on the 2022 season, "They finished as runner-up in the conference last season, but I think we will make a strong push to be champions this year."

They hit the ground running on September 2nd with their first meet of the year. They will travel to Fortin Park where they will compete against Hartwick College and SUNY Oneonta.

Their next big test comes on September 17th when they compete at the Pre-Regional Invitational. They will use this opportunity to feel out the same course they will run during NCAA Regional Championships.

They will then have the SUNY Delhi Bronco Classic on October 4th.   Last year it was all Green and Yellow as the Broncos took five of the top six spots. Seth Bywater returns as the winner of last year's race. They will look to continue their dominance at the College Golf Course this season.

"The regional preseason rankings recently came out and our men's team is ranked in the top 10 of the Niagara Region, Brown said,  "We are excited and we'll have a lot to use as motivation as we go through the season."

Just as the Broncos have gotten better with experience, returners and newcomers, it is to be expected that their competitors did as well. The 2022 season looks like it will bring an exciting quest for the Men's Cross Country team.
