Women Collect Third-Place Mark at Oneonta Airfield Invite

ONEONTA, N.Y. (September 18, 2021) - The Broncos women's cross country runners picked up a third-place finish at this year's Oneonta Airfield 5K Invitational, earning 62 points behind the host Red Dragons and Sage.

The women ran together in a large pack for most of the race, led by Sophie Stewart who placed 12th at 21:32.9. Stewart was followed closely by teammates Katerina Salcedo (21:36.5) and Kristina Messler (21:41.5) with their respective 13th and 14 place finishes. Right behind them was Mary Lyons with her 16th-place finish at 21:42.0, with the team's top five rounded out by Kailyn Oreglio with her 17th place finish at 22:23.2.

Additional finishes included Shyanne Lawton taking 19th at 22:38.2, Marissa Lombardi 20th at 22:43.5, Alexandria Cacers 26th at 23:54.1, Anna Clarke 32nd at 25:27.1, Amber Scruggs 35th at 25:52.5, and Hope Mulligan 39th at 30:05.0.

"The women had amazing races today. I love how closely packed our top four is. I'm really excited to see them progress the rest of this season," said coach Ben Finnigan.

The Broncos have another two weeks before facing their eventual NCAA regional course when they head to the SUNY Geneseo Mike Woods Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 11:00 a.m.
